Subject: [COUPERS-FLYIN] Seat

Hi Fellow Coupers, the seat of my Coupe is simply a piece of plywood
covering the bowled area behind the main spar. It occurred to me, as I was
getting beat up working on my instrument panel update, that perhaps this
bowl was used so the pilot could wear a parachute. I spent many hours
sitting on a parachute in an old Provost which had a similar, but larger,
bowl. Is this why the bowl is there? if not, any ideas????????????Thanks

Pete :-)
Have a great day!!!

Hi Pete - I might add to Lynn's good advice on coupe original seat
cushions that they weighed four and a half pounds apeice. I got rid of
over two thirds of the horse hair and stuffed with dense foam instead,
saving two pounds. The older we get and the older the coupes get we seem
to be adding more weight! Hope this helps in deciding what kind of
seating arrangement you decide in your airplane. Ted, Sacramento CA
