Folks. I think the question was whether the seat bowl was originally used for holding a parachute, NOT what kind of cushion Pete might want to use. He seems to be happy with his plywood solution. However one might think that the original coupe test pilots had that bowl for exactly that purpose - holding the parachute. And later on , after certification of the Ercoupe the area was filled with a big cushion. I am not sure if there would be enough room to fit a chute. But could be.
