Hi All!
I was out playing around in the practice area yesterday & tried a
few things. I was at full fuel with just myself
on board so I pulled the throttle back & pulled the yoke back all the
way. I got about 1000 ft/min drop in the mush
mode , no suprise here! Then I slowly powered up till I got zero drop
(still full yoke back) this occured at 1850rpm
& still with an airspeed registering below 40 mph (as low as my
indicator goes). I then took it to full power, the
plane began to climb at about 50 ft/min, still at below 40 mph. I didn't
do this very long but it amazed me that it
would not only stay in the air but climb at this low airspeed. The
engine never started to heat up but the OAT
was around -5c @5500ft (cool) She's a 415c with an 85hp, climb
prop.Anyone else get diffrent numbers?

I am also noticing that with these cooler days that I am
getting more speed at cruise. During the summer
I was getting around 100 mph @ 2450rpm, now I get about 110 mph.GPS is
up as well so I am going
faster,(not just reading faster).

I now have about 40 hrs in this coupe since august & I have to
tell you guys(& gals), this is the perfect
plane for me. It has the range I need to travel to the spots I need to
go to, is quick & easy to prefight,
is fast enough, extremely cheap to operate, easy to start, very easy to
fly........ I could go on!

These email groups were instrumental in helping me decide to buy
into this coupe & I would just
like to say thankyou all for the help & guidance as we got it back
together & worked out the small
bugs that come with rebuilding any plane this old.

Avemco was the only insurance company that would insure me
& my 2 partners when we tried to
get quotes. Now they are no longer providing aircraft insurance in
Canada. So we have untill July
to get a pile of hours so that one of the other brokers might take us
on. Does anyone have any
idea why they have done this?
