I think it's Florida crud, as Carl had it fairly clean, and it was
hangared
during its stint with him down in Belmar. Since he had it at Comair,
I wonder if it's dried-on-baked-on jet exhaust.

I'd try the dry-wash stuff that Sporty's sells. Since it doesn't have
water
in it it seems to get oils off nicely.

The other stuff a lot of guys use around here is 'Dri-Wash-N-Guard', which
is popular amongst the car show people. In fact, Marty Kress here at
Kress aviation uses it to 'wash' planes at annual, and refuses to
put water on them. http://www.driwashnguard.com I think they
even list local outlets for the stuff.

It *seems* expensive, but a little goes a long way. I used it on N99387
during our drought and discovered that it is actually a lot easier than
soap-and-water washing, even on a very dirty plane.
