During a previous discussion, someone WEIGHED two sets of wings, one
fabric
and the other metalized. The DIFFERENCE came out at 38+ lb., to the best
of
my recollection.

After our last long discussion about metalized versus fabric wings, we
came to the conclusion that the metal material to cover both wings
weights roughly 40 pounds.

Now, if you would then still cover these wings with fabric and paint
them, you would have added a true 40 pound to the empty weight of the
aircraft.

But since we remove the remove the dope soaked fabric we have to
subtract the weight of the removed material to do a fair comparison.

Nobody could tell us so far what the weight of the fabric (painted)
actually is.

I estimate it at least 10 pounds each side, leaving 20 pounds or even
more off the calculation.

With that in mind, metal wings do not look too bad I think.
