What you need is a good mechanic to go with you to the site and do a thorough pre-purchase evaluation. For us to evaluate the airplane from your description is just a shot in the dark. The pre-purchase may cost you $300-$400, but is pretty cheap insurance to keep you from getting burned. I have located a 1947 Ercoupe, C Model. It has been sitting in a dirt floor hanger for the last 5 years un-touched. I will give as much info as I know right now but my question is what would the plane be worth? Ball park figure of course. Here is what I know so far. Parked for the last 5 years. Out of annual for 5 years. Don't know the hours on AF or Engine. Engine has about 300 hours since top overhaul Exterior is in pretty good shape As far as I know there is no Damage Plane was running and annualled when parked Brakes are not working Wings have swiss cheese AD Tires were low but not flat Has radio and transponder but there over 10 years old Pulled floor in baggage area, bottom of AF is clean. I did not find a single bird, rat nest, or droppings anywhere. Has basic instruments Windows need replacing Engine started after turning over three times Found a lot of dirt wasp nest in cowling, no birds or mice Engine ran smooth during taxi test Have not inspected inside of wings. Do not know there internal condition Did not see any oil or fuel leaks All AD's are current up to last annual Plane needs a lot of TLC but overall appears to be in good shape Well there it is. What I know so far. If any one could help me in this matter I would greatly appreciate it. I need to know what kind of offer to make so I can get this one back in the air.
