Hello everyone, I believe that as a group we are in a better position to
find a Coupe at a reduced price. I bought mine last year and did not know
anything about Coupe Capers or this site. My better half was adament about
side by side seating and our financial parameters were limited to under
$20,000. I went through Trade a plane and looked up Ercoupe on the web, I
finally found one on the web for $15,000. This took a long time so I
talked with the owner and bought it sight unseen in order not to lose it.
That is how difficult it was to find a side by side seating arrangement
plane other than the Cessna 150, for the money I had. I did pay too much
and have sunk another $8,000 into it, not counting labor. Had I had the
benefit of Coupe Capers I could have bought one heck of a lot better
plane, but I did not know about the newsletter at that time. From the
outside looking in, it is not that easy to find a low time engine Coupe
with the Swiss cheeze mod. I looked at one which had never even had the
Swiss cheeze holes cut out, and the others I called on were " going to get
around to it someday". Slick mags were unheard of by most sellers, and the
typical radio arrangement was a handheld only. As you all know,
electronics can eat up several thousand dollars really fast. The Coupe I
bought had all the logs and I tracked down the AD's which were done, and
corrected those that weren't . Had I had the benefit of Coupe Capers I
could have bought the same plane for $11,000. From the outside looking in,
it is not easy to find a tricycle gear, side by side seating arrangement
plane other than a 150 , for less than $20,000.

Yes, I guess someone did get a good deal. But, those same deals are out
there. I've seen them. Biggest problem is finding someone within an
acceptable distance that wants it. I could have sold it several times if
I
wanted to deliver it 2,000 miles. As it was, I had three buyers in the
local area, but only one actually gave me a deposit.  It was always;
"well,
if he doesn't buy it, call me." Also, if I hadn't delivered it the day I
did, 9-09-02, two days later I doubt if anyone would have been interested
in
it.
