Fellow Coupers; Do any of you have or are aware of any approved
installations
of a battery solenoid in a Coupe? As far as I can tell, only the M-10 used
a
battery solenoid, which Univair does not list in their parts inventory.
My FAA inspector wants to see some approved data (read as FAA
approved
prior installation) before approving a change.
What I have run across is that I have installed one of the new
lightweight B&C starters in a Coupe. It does not get enough current
through
the old #6 battery cable and master switch arrangement to turn the engine
over properly. Larger battery cable (#2) without the master switch in the
system solves the problem. Since I do not want to have battery power in
the
engine compartment with the switch off, I want to install a solenoid,
controlled by the old master switch, next to the battery. This amounts to
a
change in the design of the electrical system, which is a major
alteration.
I would appreciate any and all help in this matter.
Thanks
Lynn Nelsen
