I ran a quick test with the test case described in BZ#991035 and it did seem to pass with 3.4.1qa2.

Can you please confirm if your observation is the same?

BZ#990830 is not related to ACL. Are you referring to BZ#998967 by chance?

    It seems it has something very broken. A tar -xzf reported no error
    while most of the file do not appear in the filesystem on completion. I
    am not sure it is related, by my client log are filled with that:
