The plus addressing method may not be exactly what Chrysanthemum Hyphus was looking for but I thought it interesting that you can use "send mail as" to designate a plus address as one for sending emails as well as receiving them. And in setting up a plus address for sending, you can specify a unique name for the plus address which would save the user from having to go to account settings and keep changing the name on the account.
