I suggest you use POP not IMAP for serious business communications. it's fine to automatically copy Gmail (which loses on occasion some of my auto copies, falsely marking them as spam even though I have my email address in my Gmail address book), but it's not fine to rely solely on Gmail for your serious correspondence. unless you want to guess whether or not you will get email--it's up to you, depending on how important your communications are.
