Hi David, > installing Ubuntu and then finding a wireless card that will work > with it.
I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop on my Dell Inspiron 7500 with an Enterasys RoamAbout 802.11 DS PCMCIA card (it's old and only supports a/b). The only thing I had to do was hold down the left mouse button on the Network Manager icon in the top left to get a menu where I could choose my wireless network. Most successful, in terms of everything just working, Linux install I've ever done on a laptop. Also check out this link: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessCardsSupported Also, I was recently looking at the Inspiron laptop that Dell sells with Ubuntu 7.10 pre-installed and it has the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 ABG (Centrino). > 15-year-old angst-driven daughter? I will sell cheapest. No thanks, I already have one! :-( Larry _______________________________________________ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/
