Bill, > Devil's Advocate: > Even if 51% of the GNHLUG-discuss list said, "gee, I'd rather we didn't > incorporate," we would anyway.
I think that the damage that would be done to the GNHLUG group if that happened would be very great....and it would be a shame. Likewise I think that going off and forming a completely new group that would want the incorporation and to populate it would take a lot of work, and might grow slowly. Therefore I think a middle ground of coming up with an organization that allows the "don't incorporate group" to feel comfortable that nothing in their world is going to change, yet they may reap the benefits of an incorporated group is what must happen. I think the plans that have been put together allow this, and I would like to see email messages describing this, a meeting to describe what is proposed and a vote to do it. If the plans do not allow this, then perhaps the plans should be changed. The option of splitting the group still remains, but I think if that happened both groups would suffer. > Devil's Advocate #2: > Everyone on the -discuss list knew about the Summer summit and was > invited > to attend or send their thoughts for inclusion. If people did send along > their desires to remain unorganized it was repressed by our power-mad > despots. I will take offense at that statement for the rest of the group. I have known most of these people a long time and I do not know anyone on this list or who were at the summit who would do such a thing, either knowingly or unknowingly. > -Bill -- Jon "maddog" Hall Executive Director Linux International(R) email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 80 Amherst St. Voice: +1.603.672.4557 Amherst, N.H. 03031-3032 U.S.A.
