What kind of sparc is it? You'll notice on the Linux distrubutions that
Linux isn't supported on the Sparc 5 - 170 and I've had very similiar
experiences while loading on this particular platform. Here's the funny
thing, I put the drives in a Sparc 5/85 and loaded Linux without a problem
and then put the drives in the 170 and it works perfectly.
