Better or not I can't say, but here are a few reasons that I use Applix
rather than SO.

1: I paid for it, so I might as well use it.

2: It loads much faster, and is not an entire desktop unto itself.

3: I am able to maintain a small MySQL database through the Applix Data
module, while the SO database interface gave me nothing but grief.
After I got the thing running, it would only open the tables in read
only mode. I basically ran out of patience with it.

4: I routinely use 2 printers. Applix has no problem with this. SO
recognizes both printers as 'root'. As 'user', I was unable to
    have it recognize both printers.

5: Applix sells this product, and therfore supports it. If you have a
problem or question, it get's answered.

6: I have no idea what Sun plans for SO.

Applixware is far from perfect, but it serves *my* needs better than SO,
at this point in time. SO has it's advantages as well, but those tend to
be things that are less important to me.
