  There is a program, called "alien", which attempts to convert between
package formats.  IOW, it can convert RPMs to Debian packages.  How well it
works depends on the formats involved, how well the original package was
created, and the phase of the moon.  But it is a solution for someone running
package system XYZ who wants to install a package only available in format
ABC.
