There's only one distribution to run: Debian. :-)
Seriously, I see Debian's pros as the following: a rock solid
distribution (even the "unstable" version!) with more software than any
other distribution -- plus, each package is checked for quality standards; a
great package management system; a militant adherence to policies and
standards, e.g. you won't have to wonder where the config file for package Y
is, it's under /etc; sane approach to security (check out comparisons of
security problems with distros and you'll find Debian at the bottom); plus,
on top of all that, it's militantly free and non-commercial.
