There's a couple of ways....do they have halt buttons? If so try pressing
those. Failing that try CTRL-X and CTRL-C when SRM starts. That should
interupt them (you may need to type them several times!). Then you can:

set auto_action halt

(at least that's what it is on the newer machines).
