Today, Rich Payne gleaned this insight:
> Eewwww....RedHat 6.0 was pretty much a nightmare. 6.2 is much better, and
Note that RedHat 6.2 has a number of annoying bugs, which probably won't
be noticed too much by new users, but which might cause you some grief if
you say, take a Unix class from a university or technology training center
of some sort, and try to do your homework with it.
Most notably, the fileutils package has some brokenness in it due to
RedHat trying to unnecessarily "fix" things... The original versions of
the sources they use as their base work perfectly fine. In particular,
the sort command is extremely broken. Other programs in that package are
also broken as well.
Updates for these and other problems are available from RedHat's ftp site.
Be sure to get them if you intend to take a Unix class or intend to learn
Unix on your own, or else they will yeild wrong results and you will not
know why, leading you to think that YOU have done something wrong, when in
reality you may have done exactly what you intended to.
