Thanks for the links and info. Karl... now, a dumber question:  should I 
assume that I don't automagicaly have support for the pcmcia card and
cdrom compiled into the kernel (since it's not working) and.. if that's
the case, I need to re-compile the kernel if I ever hope to have support 
for this CDROM on this machine?
