Just about everyone does it differently. I do not use a separate boot partition
because it is no longer necessary. I just install LILO on the MBR.
My setup is:
Partition size(MB) type Linux designation
1 1,033 FAT32 Windows boot hda1
2 4.695 extended hda2
3(L) 1203 FAT32 Windows system save hda5
4(L) 133 Linux Swap hda6
5(L) 3359 Linux Native(EXT2) hda7
I use Partition Magic to resize my partitions because I have found it to be quick and
reliable. With Partition Magic (5.0 or 6.0) I have not needed to run a Windows defrag.
Last year at an instalfest, we had one guy who spent hours doing a defrag on his
laptop. There is always something running in Windows to make defrag restart.
