That is not entirely true. You can change the partition type from 83 (Linux
Native) to b (Win95 FAT32), or whatever is appropriate. The Linux fdisk
will do this. Then you can format it. The Linux mkfs command can be used to
format an MS-DOS partition, but i have not tried it.
