  Partition Magic is a fairly cautious program.  One might even say
"paranoid".  It will frequently require you to explicitly perform destructive
operations.  So I suspect it is just a UI design decision that one cannot
change the format of a partition in a single step.  I'm not so sure it is a
bad one, either.

  The partition table editor (PTEDIT.EXE) PowerQuest includes with Partition
Magic will let you directly change the partition type, but I don't see why
you'd bother.  :)  Just use PM to delete the old one, and then create the new
one.
