I am using the Linksys LNE100TX 10/100 NIC which uses the Tulip
drivers.
I've bench maked it at close to 100Mbps on my local net with my
laptop,
which has a Netgear cardbus card.

I have had dreadful luck with some of the Linksys. (Others were fine.
I'm not at the site, so I
don't have the models.) The offending version uses a newer Tulip chipset
which requires kernel
patches and is generally not worth the bother.

I've had good luck with various others, including Netgear and KTI (which
is what I usually use).
I've had quirks with 3com cards, but only under Windows with the
monitoring/diagnostic
software loaded.
