Most UNIX systems don't have an SMB client or Netatalk.  In this case
a Linux box on the network can forward SMB connections to NFS and vice
versa - and contrary to superstition, this is not inherently evil.
I'm assuming Netatalk can be used the same way.

Let's forget about Novell, OK?  If you can't, Linux has you covered
with client and server NetWare implementations.

Most networks I've seen in the last decade that have Windows and UNIX
have lots of Windows and only a few UNIX boxes.  The idea of
installing NFS on lots of windows boxes is brain damage.  This makes
windows work hard and you know what that will get you....

Samba is your friend.
