Ken,

I can't answer the first question, but as to the second question,
I know that apparently the newest Athlons *will* work in the MP boards,
but they're not supported or recommended. I think you may be right-on
about the MP--it might be just a way to make people feel that they're
getting official dual processors, akin to Intel's Xeons (speaking of,
anybody seen any of those 900MHz ones floating around? Oh wait, they got
recalled...).
And I have not yet gotten one myself, but a friend of mine just
bought himself one, and is in the process of building a system based on
it. I'll let you know if he meets with any resistance.
