I just picked up a couple of used linux servers and trying to install RH 7.2. Everything goes ok except that I cannot seem to get the onboard Intel network cards to work (440BX motherboard). It's a dual capable motherboard but I only have one cpu in there. The NIC's recognize ok and the eepro100 module is loaded however, I can't get any traffic though the card and get this error in syslog.
NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out I was able to get an older version of RH to work without a problem (2.2 kernel). Looking this up on google, it looks like perhaps a problem with the 2.4 kernel and I wasn't able to find a workaround for this. The only thing I could find was a document that said to recompile the kernel without the IO-APIC option but my kernel didn't have that module loaded. Also, there were some suggestions to load the -ac kernel patch, but that looks like it applies to an older kernel version. Has anyone come across this problem or even better, know a workaround so I can get these machines going? Thanks for your help. ***************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the text 'unsubscribe gnhlug' in the message body. *****************************************************************
