  I don't know about others, but *this* Linux head doesn't trust Sun very
much.  They cannot seem to make up their mind as to whether they want to
support open standards, or if they are just trying to be the Microsoft of
Unix.  I've lost track -- is Java going to be an open standard this month,
or is that next month, and it's Sun's property this month?

  As for Java, EJB, J2EE, etc., themselves: I see them as tools -- nothing
more, and nothing less.  I think they have some neat features, and are worth
using, but I certainly don't think they are the solution to all the world's
programming problems.  As Fred Brooks so succinctly put it, there is no
silver bullet.
