I recommend that you get at least two or three good books read off the bat. That way whenever you can't get to the Internet you can still have access to good technical help. The Linux network administrators guide by Olaf Kirch and Terry Dawson, now in its second edition, is available from O'Reilly publishing. O'Reilly has lots of good Linux books. You may also want to get one of the "Linux Bible's" which are good because they put tons of documentation in hardcopy, very cheaply and the result occupies very little shelf space. This can be of use when you can't access your installation CD-ROM's and therefore can't get to the online documentation. The online documentation on the Internet is usually your best bet because it is the most up-to-date. Here's the URL for the Linux documentation project: http://www.linuxdoc.org/ At this web site you'll find the man pages, several guides, as well as a comprehensive list of how to documents. Many of the guides and how to documents specifically address system administration issues. -- Jeff Kinz, Emergent Research, Hudson, MA.
