This is correct, though I'm at a loss to explain why it didn't work for me. Checking my .muttrc (ok, the appropriate file that gets sourced by .muttrc) reveals that I have almost exactly that in there already: subscribe gnhlug Which should have matched... Grrrr. Hmm... unless I was reading from a different machine with an outdated copy of my mutt environment.
