I don't believe that NVidia only releases binary drivers.  I distinctly recall
compiling the drivers for my TNT2 card.  Though they do have plenty of binary
drivers available for download, it appears the sources are still available as well. 
I have no complaints with it so far.

By the way, ABIT has some fantastic motherboards that run Linux very well.  And the
ABIT SoftBIOS is truly wonderful as well.
