Which version(s) of a Linux release is more skewed towards the desktop?
I use Red Hat and as much as I like it, they are not the most active of
keeping up with all the desktop bells and whistles.
Someone I know wants to play with Linux for the first time, and she has
UNIX experience, and done a bit of homework into looking into things,
but she is interested in a release that tends to keep up with the
desktop glitz.
She knows about the two main desktops, KDE and Gnome, and Gnome is the
one that has caught her attention, for whatever reasons.
I told her about Helix Gnome, but she prefers not to deal with that, and
would prefer the source of the OS to be the the main source of all those
bells and whistles currently.
To be honest about Helix, I told her I tried it some time ago, and was
not crazy about the way it went about things, and that might have swayed
her a bit.
Thanks
Sean
