One such distribution is Libranet (which we're using).  Libranet's primary
self-imposed mission is to make Debian approachable for the desktop.  
We also use Libranet for file and print servers, but their design center
is the desktop.  Libranet supports Gnome and KDE, as well as numerous
other environments and window managers.

I recommend it.  (It's true, of course, that I've become partial to
Debian.)
