Building an RPM from source is pathetically easy. Simple execute:
rpm --rebuild name-of-source-rpm-file
You will find the resulting binary RPMs in:
/usr/src/redhat/RPMS/
Then install them. That is all you need to do.

You can disable some options, but all in all, you really, really should
upgrade to the latest release.
