Hi Jon, For what it's worth I agree with you. I'm glad that the option is open for a better name. It seems like a small thing but it's the only visible entry to all this wonderful development and in some way should reflect the beauty of the gnome-shell. I love using Gnome hence my thoughts. Perhaps a button naming contest could be launched...
Anyway, that's all. -----Original Message----- From: William Jon McCann [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, 28 October 2009 11:35 AM To: Shane Nuessler Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: Overview menu Hi, On Tue, Oct 27, 2009 at 8:25 PM, Shane Nuessler <[email protected]> wrote: > Thanks Jon, > I'm not trying to be painful, but if this has come up a few times (and > gnome-shell isn't exactly wide spread yet), won't it come up quite a few > more times? This is the kind of stuff that needs real data rather than speculation I think. But my gut says that using Overview is not a better option since it describes the metaphor but not the content (and why having a menu labeled "Menu" may not be great either). Once we get those data we'll review this decision just like all the rest. The effort required to change the label on the button is not large and there is no risk in deferring the decision until we have more information. Anyway, that's how I see it.
