Hi All,

IMHO I think the netbook launcher should replace the standard desktop icons
Nautilus draws it's sweet and practical (and not just for netbooks); but one
could add an option for mouse interactivity to many of the xscreensaver
hacks, that'd be a fair cool way of implementing some like what the mod
asked for... (of course like many other graphical distractions these can
already be made to draw on the desktop / root window with a single command
line option)

As for playing video on the desktop - shouldn't that be a feature request
for the totem devs? [MPlayer has a "-rootwin" option to draw video to the
desktop]

If anyone wants to implement realise this as any kind of new project - my
suggestion is to please consider making it as a Gnome project but not
explicitly part of gnome-shell, the feature just doesn't need to be
implemented in the project and can be implemented better (I think)
seperately.
