Yes, having this as an option sounds good to me, default leave it as is
but allow users to be able to move it to the right if they want through
gnome tweak tool.

I also had the same experience with the Hot Corner, usually upon

Usually you would just throw the Mouse to the upper-left Corner and
move down a bit to get to the Close Button, so i figured maybe a
little delay for the activation could solve those Problems without
having to mess with the UI itself.
It could be made available as a variable value to hook on with
Applications like Gnome Shell Tweak Tool ( i believe it's called
something like this) cause if your Close Buttons live on the left side
you already tweaked the Shell and thus would also be experienced
enough to figure out the Setting for the Activation Delay. For
"Average Users" the Setting would remain unchangeable and all Settings
would stay just the way they are.

I also don't like the hotspot in the upper left (I'm always
hitting it when switching Chrome tabs, and I also moved my
close/min/max to the left). If I had a choice, I'd move it to the
bottom-left. I tried using this extension to move it to the
top-right:

... but it doesn't quite work in Linux Mint 12, so I deactivated it.

reason the top-left corner was chosen is because that's where
the Activities menu is, which makes the hot corner behaviour
more discoverable than it might be otherwise. So I'm not sure
how the designers would feel about simply moving it to a
different corner, but that's not to say there isn't a good
solution to be reached.
