I did it in Netscape Composer so I suppose you could highlight it in
Netscape and press Copy?

The sysadmin (who is running Debian) installed 1.0.18 from a package.
Except that when I use xdvi on the first example in the tutorial (the
menuet), the note stems don't quite reach the heads and the stave lines
are not drawn under the top half of the third treble clef.  Is this a
known problem?

There is that.  Can someone put a disk space requirement on the document?
Not that all users would know their disk space.  Is there some way of
getting the installation script to check the available disk space and
report a sensible error if not?
