One quick and dirty solution towards getting xmhtml (and ultimately)
gnucash working with Debian is just to run alien on the binary .rpm of
xmhtml. I had no problems getting the resulting .deb to install and be
seen by gnucash. Basically I found that using that and the latest
versions of the other libraries in Debian slink were enough to compile
1.1.26. I realize this isn't a long term solution for the xmhtml
problem but it can be timesaver if you just want to get going and start
using gnucash. It is xmhtml or gnucash that you are referring to as
non-trivial to get to compile for Debian? I found that gnucash compiled
very easily once had I had xmhtml installed.
