These are all good questions that I too want to have answered before I
switch over to GnuCash for my finances.  I think having a well
documented and easy way to migrate from Quicken would be a big win for
GnuCash.  Right now, I think things are at a very early stage though.
There is no good story to tell people who want to migrate from
Quicken.

Of course, it is easy to say what would be nice.  Eventually somebody
has to get around to doing it!  I can't complain because I haven't had
time to put in much work myself.

Anyway, I'd encourage you to work on the project!  If you have no time
for that, keep checking in.  Things will slowly improve.
