I have used it as a way to track the depreciated value of assets
I interpreted John's request to be that he wanted individual transaction items
to be displayed as if they were moved from the child to the parent.
so we would have:
Utilities:Electricity
1/1/2000 The Electric Company $100.00
2/1/2000 The Electric Company $100.00
Total $200.00
and
Utilities:Gas
1/2/2000 The Gas Company $10.00
2/2/2000 The Gas Company $10.00
Total $20.00
shown as
Utilities
1/1/2000 The Electric Company $100.00
1/2/2000 The Gas Company $10.00
2/1/2000 The Electric Company $100.00
2/2/2000 The Gas Company $10.00
Total $220.00
