Looking at your listing I'm guessing that that's exactly what
happened.  If Gnucash didn't scream bloody murder when it couldn't
write the file, then that's a nasty bug.  There was another bug in the
IO code that I fixed a while back (related to full partitions), but
this looks like it might be a new one.

There's no automated way to recover the file right now, but you should
be able to look at the file in a text editor to see the data that
needs to be re-entered.
