Fair enough. My analogy with rabbits breaks down on that point; perhaps
the point is better served by breeding something like amoebas, where you
end up with several, proportionately smaller (in value), units in place
of the original. Amoebas just aren't as fun for analogies as rabbits,
though! ;-)
I think we agree on what the basic function of accounting is, and that
it is more or less arbitrary what you consider your basic unit; I think
most of the issue revolves around how to model a particular accounting
problem, and which model yields less headaches down the software
development road.
