Yes, it really should work in en_GB, and I know there are several
people running in that locale without the problem you reported,
though not, I think, on Solaris.
Did you try it with LANG set using GNU gettext?

Now that I don't understand. I don't believe we are using
curses anywhere in GnuCash, at least this is the first I've
heard of it :)
What symbols were needed?
