The files of the form <filename>.<number>.xac are backup files
created every time you save. You can delete them, but it's best
to keep around a few of the newer ones just for safety's sake.

The *.log files are a record of the changes to the file in a
textual form. Currently, there are only created, never used
by the program, so they are mainly useful for manually recovering
from a crash.
