I have used VeraCrypt and its predecessor TrueCrypt for many years for this purpose. An encrypted contained holds all my medical and financial information. When I mount it, it becomes a disk drive for all Windows knows. The encrypted container is not noticeably slower to read from or write to than my real disk, as far as I can tell.
VeraCrypt is free and open source, and easy to use. It has Windows, Mac, and Linux versions. https://www.veracrypt.fr/en/Home.html Stan Brown Tehachapi, CA, USA https://BrownMath.com/ _______________________________________________ gnucash-user mailing list [email protected] To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user ----- Please remember to CC this list on all your replies.
