Tom & Sherlock, I am confirming that Tom is correct about GnuCash ignoring the "Don't autocomplete" request, both with ESC and selecting "Don't autocomplete" from the list.
It would seem to me that if "Don't autocomplete" is selected, then the cursor should move to the next field without any autocomplete and leaving the description field as filled (no changes). I'm not so sure about how the ESC method should work, but if the pulldown list is not visible, then maybe skip the autocomplete.
