Creating a note before the description works fine and is reasonable.

If no note is desired, the cost is 4 extra keystrokes less some count of 
keystrokes that depends on autocompleting the description. It's only 2 extra 
keystrokes if a note needs to be entered.

My 4 keystrokes are (1) TAB (to get to the note field from the description 
field), (2) SPACE (to enter a blank note), (3) SHIFT-TAB (to return to the 
description), and then after entering the description and TABBING to the note, 
(4) BACKSPACE to delete the space. I suppose the space could be left, as it's 
not really hurting much. But it's quick and easy to use the BACKSPACE to delete 
the now unneeded space.

However, because autocomplete can be used to complete the description field, 
there is also a keystroke reduction (favorable).
