It likely won't matter to GnuCash as different accounts are identified internally by UUIDs not so much by the account name but it could cause havoc with interpreting your books.
If the accounts serve the same purpose and were created accidentally, then if you delete one of the accounts it will ask you where any transactions with entries to that account should be posted, to which you can specify the other account. Gnucash will then transfer the transactions before deleting the account. I would give them distinct names before doing this even just by tacking an "a" and "b" onto the account names so you can be clear which one you are deleting and which one you are keeping and transferring the transactions to.
