Just delete the old folder before installing 5.14.

Your data is where ever your saved it, and your prefs are in your user profile. (under %APPDATA% I think in Windows)

The folder in "C:\Program Files (x86)" and anything it contains is safe to delete as if you were doing a completely fresh install.

Be certain that GnuCash is *not* running when you try to do this, and don't otherwise have your datafile open. (say, using an XML or SQL editor)

You may have to run the installer as an 'administrator' account or with admin permissions. If you are the admin user, you can right-click the installer and choose "Run as administrator" to force the UAC prompt to approve the installation.

If you still get blocked, right-click the installer and choose "Properties" then check the "unblock" box near the bottom, close the dialog and try again.
